About the Artist
Welcome! My name is Anna Price and I want to thank you for visiting my new website. I'm just thrilled with this new opportunity to share my work and passion for glass fusing and jewelry design with you!
When people ask, "How did you begin working with glass?", I usually answer, jokingly, that I just really don't know what I want to be when I grow up... but I'm still searching! And, like all humor, there is a small amount of truth in that. Actually, I've enjoyed being involved in activities that ranged from modeling while in college, right up to turning my love for glasswork into a business. In between, I worked as a secretary, a realtor, and even raised registered cattle for about six years. I graduated from Lee Jr. College and attended the University of Texas in Austin, San Antonio College, and UT Health Science Center Nursing School. My studies included pre-med, nursing, biology, and business. Essentially, I think I've just always had a passion for all learning.
The knowledge I have of glasswork was not acquired in any of my formal education, although I've taken numerous courses in stained glass and fusing. It was acquired, developed, and nurtured over the past 25 years of actually working with glass... making hundreds of pieces... some good, and some not so good. When someone asks, "How do you do that?", I say, "It's not rocket science... but it is science." In fact, it's blending a knowledge of glass chemistry, thermal dynamics and physics, along with mechanical application, organization, design... and lot's of patience! I also enjoy continuing to learn in my associations with other artists in the following organizations:
- San Antonio Bead and Ornament Society
- The Glass Art Society
- International Society of Glass Bead Makers
- The PMC Guild
- International Guild of Glass Artists, Inc.
I live with my husband, Don, in the country a few miles southeast of San Antonio, near Floresville, Texas. We have 16 acres and enjoy the woodlands and wildlife that make country living such a continuous joy. Now that both of our boys are grown and developing their own families, I find myself with ample time to expand and refine my work. With the completion of my new studio last year, I feel that the sky is the limit to my ability to try new ideas in glass fusing and jewelry design.
Please feel free to let me know what you think about my new website, and my art. I'd love to hear from you, and I hope to see you at my next show!
